Viking Athletic Week in Review- 1/08/2018: Women’s Basketball Defeats Mount San Antonio College, Men’s Basketball Win in OT

 

Women's Basketball

The No. 18 women's basketball team upset the No. 5 Mount San Antonio Mounties 58-50 last Friday evening. Esther Franks and Brittnay McDaniel both led the team to victory by scoring 12 points each. McDaniel also had 11 rebounds and 10 blocks for the Vikings.

This was the third time the Vikings took on the Mounties this season. In their first game, the Vikings won 82-75 3OT to win the Mt. SAC Tip-Off Tournament Championship game. In their second meeting, the Mounties took home the nail-biting 75-72 win over the Vikings in the 39th Annual Colleen Riley Holiday Invitational on Dec. 28.

The Vikings will play again in their first home game of the season this Wednesday, Jan. 10 against East Los Angeles College at 6 p.m. in the Hall of Champions. To view the remaining schedule, click here.


Men's Basketball

Over the weekend, the men's basketball team participated in the Chaffey Tournament. In the first game on Jan. 4, the Vikings defeated Glendale College 83-77. Jeremiah Sadler walked away with 33 points and Matthew Wooten totaled 10 rebounds for the Vikings.

In the second game of the tournament, the Vikings lost to Chaffey College 86-78, but came back in the final game of the tournament and defeated Palomar College 81-79 in OT. Sadler topped the leader board again with 25 points, 11 assists and six rebounds. Jordan Heard also scored 16 points with six rebounds.

The Vikings will play again at home on Friday, Jan. 12 against Rio Hondo College at 5 p.m. in the Hall of Champions. To view the remaining schedule, click here.
