The state-ranked No. 11 men's basketball team fell to the Citrus College Owls 93-78 last Saturday evening in the SoCal Regional Finals at Citrus College.
Freshman guard Jace Bass led the team with 32 points, nine rebounds and had one assist. Sophomore forward Matthew Wooten took home the double-double with ten points and ten rebounds.
The Vikings ended their season with a conference title, ten-game winning-streak and a 25-4 overall record. The Vikings will return next winter season.
The Long Beach City College softball team took down Compton College 10-8 last Tuesday, but then fell to the Pasadena City College Lancers on Thursday afternoon.
In their win against Compton, short stop Jade Wittman and first baseman Ashley Pozo each had doubles with two RBIs to help advance the Vikings over the Tartars.

The Long Beach City College men's baseball team defeated the Pasadena City College Lancers 5-3 in their second South Coast Conference game on Monday afternoon. With the win, the Vikings advance to 7-9 overall, and 1-1 in conference play.
Sophomore pitcher Matthew Johnson (2-0) earned his second win on the mound with only allowing three runs to the Lancers, while striking down six. Freshman pitcher Julio Lopez (0-1) then came in for his first save and only allowed one hit to Pasadena in the final two innings.
The Vikings got on the board in the bottom of the third inning with sophomore designated hitter David Balboa walked with the bases loaded to bring in sophomore second baseman Raul Gonzalez for the Vikings' first run.
Long Beach then came out swinging in the bottom of the fourth inning starting with freshman third baseman Noel Soto hitting an RBI single to right field to score in sophomore catcher Brett Wells. Freshman right fielder Zach Rivas was up next with a 2 RBI single to score in Soto and sophomore center fielder Chris Rubottom to extend the Vikings' lead. Balboa closed out the inning with an RBI double to left field to lead Pasadena 5-0.
In the top of the seventh, the Lancers answered back with a three-run rally, but the Vikings were quick to shut it down and close out the conference game with the 5-3 win.

The No. 3 men's volleyball team defeated the Santa Monica College Corsairs 3-0 last Friday evening in the Bldg. Q Gym. With the win, the Vikings advance to 7-3 overall and 3-1 in conference play.
Freshman setter Joseph Rocha led the team with 24 assists as he was consistently accurate on his passes. Freshman outside hitter Vinicius da Silva had a .667 killer percentage for the game and also had two service aces. Freshman opposite Uriel Batista and sophomore outside hitter Miller Davis also totaled two service aces each to help propel the Vikings into victory over the Corsairs.
The men's volleyball team will return to action on Wednesday, Mar. 13 against Fullerton College at 6 p.m. in the Bldg. Q Gym.

The Long Beach City College Beach Volleyball team went 3-0 this morning against Rio Hondo College, Cypress College and WestCliff University. With their fourth-consecutive win, the Vikings improve to 7-2 overall and are 1-0 in conference action.
In their conference match against Rio Hondo, the Vikings swept the Roadrunners 5-0. Sophomores Sierra Davis and Brooklin Mize, Isabella Alvarez and Doris Woods, Kaitlyn Peterson and Elsa Woods, and freshman Brooke Gonsalves and sophomore Emma Harris all defeated their opponents 2-0.
In the second match against Cypress, the Vikings brought out the brooms again with a 5-0 win. Sophomores Kylee Irwin-Paz and Jessica Blakeman fought until the end with a 2-1 win and finalized the victory over the Chargers for the Vikings.
WestCliff University pushed back against the Vikings in the third and final match of the day, but Long Beach was able to conquer through it and win 3-2.
Overall, Gonsalves and Harris, E. Woods and Peterson, and Alvarez and D. Woods did not lose one single match the entire day.
The Vikings will return to action next Friday, Mar. 15 against Mt. San Antonio College at 10 a.m. at Granada Beach. For the rest of the beach volleyball schedule, click here.
Track & Field
The Long Beach City College track & field team competed at the Ben Brown Invitational at CSU Fullerton this past weekend.
For the men's team, sophomore Darnelle Harris took fifth place in the 100 meter finals with a 11.14 time and came in third place in the 200 meter finals with a 22.29. Freshman Ikeda Jordan placed sixth in the long jump finals with a 6.10 meter mark.
On the women's side, freshman Cicely Arana placed sixth in the 100 meter finals with a 12.98 and freshman Destinee Augustus took home fourth place in the 200 meter finals with the 26.38.
The Long Beach City College track & field team will return to action on Friday, Mar. 15 at the Orange Coast Classic.
