Long beach Falls to No. 5 Mt SAC
The Long Beach City College football team showed resilience against one of the top programs in the state but ultimately fell 47–7 to No. 5 Mt. San Antonio College on Thursday night.
The Vikings faced an experienced Mt. SAC squad that set the tone early, but Long Beach battled throughout and closed the game with a strong fourth-quarter scoring drive. Running back Imari Conway capped an eight-play, 75-yard possession with a five-yard touchdown run midway through the final quarter, giving the Vikings their first points of the night. Conway finished with 22 rushing yards and the team's lone score.
Quarterbacks Allen Fernett and Wyatt McCauley combined for 157 passing yards, connecting with seven different receivers. Owen Tomich and Hezeikiah Robin each tallied 39 yards through the air, while Kyle Brown added a 21-yard reception to extend a key drive.
On defense, Long Beach showed physicality, recording 83 total tackles. Alex Koulovatos led the effort with 12 stops, and Austin King added 11. Knockia Wynter, Kaden Draper, and Robert Walker also finished with eight or more tackles as the Vikings continued to display depth and effort on the defensive side of the ball.
Long Beach will look to rebound when they return home to host Ventura City College on Saturday, Nov. 1, at 3 p.m.
