Vikings Outlast Fullerton in Five-Set Battle, 3-2

The Long Beach City College men's volleyball team battled through a five-set match and came away with a 3-2 victory over Fullerton College Thursday night.
The Vikings weathered multiple momentum swings throughout the match, responding each time Fullerton pushed ahead. After splitting the first four sets, Long Beach delivered in the fifth, executing late to secure the win.
Long Beach was led by Ezekiel Sablan, who finished with a match-high 15 kills and added two service aces. Noah Pannek was highly efficient on the night, recording 11 kills on .476 hitting while helping at the net with four total blocks.
Alden Jacobs turned in one of his most complete performances of the season, totaling 11 kills on .360 hitting and a team-high 14 digs. Travis Brown added seven kills and six blocks, while Ethan Hammond contributed six kills and five blocks as the Vikings made their presence felt at the net.
At setter, Ryder Tuaolo led the offense with 44 assists and added 10 digs, helping Long Beach hit .258 as a team.
Defensively, the Vikings recorded 55 digs, with Jacobs (14), Tuaolo (10), Daniel Patino (9), and Travis Brown (9) leading the effort in the back row.
Long Beach elevated its play late in the match, hitting .300 in the fourth set and .294 in the fifth, finishing strong to close out the 3-2 victory.
The Vikings will return to court on April 10 on the road against El Camino College, with first serve set for 6:00 p.m.
