The Long Beach City College women's soccer team surged into the third round of the CCCAA Regional Playoffs with a dominant 7–0 win over Citrus on Saturday evening. LBCC wasted no time seizing control, overwhelming the Owls with six goals in the opening half and never letting up.
Sky Demelo set the tone early, scoring in the ninth minute to ignite the Vikings' attack. Moments later, Natalia Delgado Gomez doubled the lead before Laila Alfadhiel added a third, capitalizing on LBCC's constant pressure. The Vikings continued to roll as Lorena Moreno curled in a fourth goal, followed by strikes from Kamren Velazquez and Brisa Medina to cap off a stunning first-half performance.
Long Beach tightened its grip on the match in the second half, controlling possession and limiting Citrus to no shots. Demelo completed her brace with a composed finish in the 80th minute, putting the final mark on a complete team effort. Goalkeeper Mary Valenzuela earned the shutout with LBCC's defense allowing just a single shot all match, keeping Citrus without a shot on goal.
Next up, the Vikings will face a familiar opponent in Mt. San Antonio College, setting the stage for a rematch with major postseason implications. The two teams met earlier this month in the South Coast Conference Tournament final, where South Division champion LBCC battled back from a 1–0 halftime deficit to defeat North Division champion Mt. SAC, 2–1. The Vikings face Mt. SAC at home on Tuesday, November 25 at 6 p.m.
