The Long Beach City College football team suffered its third consecutive loss after being shutout 34-0 at Moorpark College in a Central West Conference game on Saturday night.
Long Beach was held scoreless for the first time since Riverside Community College shut them out during the 1991 season. Saturday's loss dropped Long Beach to 3-4 overall and 0-2 in conference play.
Despite collecting 252 yards of total offense, the Vikings couldn't get anything going. Sophomore quarterback Gabriel Thomas passed for just 91 yards and tossed a pair of crucial interceptions, both deep in Moorpark territory, that halted potential scoring drives.
Moorpark led 14-0 at halftime before pouring it on with 20 points in the fourth quarter.
Freshman running back Jared Ginter led LBCC on the ground with 71 yards on 13 carries. Freshman wide receiver Willie Bobbitt caught four passes for 45 yards.
Thomas completed 13 of 29 passes and also ran 10 times for 62 yards.
On defense, sophomore linebacker Moses Tili led the Vikings with 16 tackles (10 solo) and also had a sack. Freshman defensive end Deansol Vaeao totaled 10 tackles (7 solo) and had a quarterback hurry.
Defensive backs Fred Rogers and D'Andre Lewis both hauled in interceptions. Rogers added five tackles, while Lewis also broke up three passes.
Long Beach returns to action on Saturday (Oct. 30) at 1 pm when it returns home to take on Antelope Valley College in a Central West Conference game.
