The Vikings softball team came up just short in a 4-3 loss to El Camino College in Game 2 of the 3C2A Super Regionals on Saturday.
The Long Beach City College softball team came up just short in a 4-3 loss to El Camino College in Game 2 of the 3C2A Super Regionals on Saturday.
The Vikings struck first in the top of the second when Anaya Togia delivered a two-run single to right field, bringing home Sienna Rievley and Alesa Gonzalez for an early 2-0 lead. El Camino responded in the third with a three-run inning, highlighted by a two-RBI triple and an RBI single to take a 3-2 lead.
Togia answered back in the fifth, blasting a solo home run to left field to tie the game at 3-3.
The game remained knotted until the bottom of the eighth when El Camino singled to center, scoring on an unearned run to walk it off for the Warriors.
Pitcher Hailey Harris went the distance for LBCC, allowing 10 hits and four runs (three earned) while striking out three in 7.2 innings of work.
"While this may not be the ending we envisioned, what an incredible season it's been," said Head Coach and Director of Softball Operations Megan Martinez. "I'm so proud of this team—every player from 1 to 22 made a powerful impact. Bringing home a conference championship for the first time in 22 years is truly remarkable."
The Vikings capped off a remarkable and historic 2025 season and will be back on the field next year, ready for more.
