Vikings Improve to 7-0 with 12-6 Win Over Santa Barbara
Behind a home run and two RBIs from N. Leomiti, LBCC softball defeated Santa Barbara.
The Long Beach City College softball team continued its unbeaten start to the season with a 12-6 victory over Santa Barbara, improving to 7-0 overall and 1-0 in conference play.
The Vikings set the tone early, exploding for five runs in the first inning and finishing with 12 runs on 15 hits. Long Beach scored in five different innings, consistently putting pressure on Santa Barbara's defense and delivering timely hits with runners on base.
Natania Leomiti led the offensive charge, going 2-for-4 with a home run, two RBIs, and two runs scored. Madison Ramon paced the lineup with a 3-for-4 performance and two RBIs. Alesa Gonzalez added two hits and two RBIs, while Lela Asi finished 2-for-4 and scored twice.
Mikaela Pacheco contributed two hits and an RBI, Brooklyn Coppin went 1-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored, and Haleigh Jacobs added a hit, two RBIs, and a walk. Madison Fao drove in a run and scored once, and Ali Calderon recorded a hit and a run scored. Jeneva Fletcher also crossed the plate as a pinch runner.
In the circle, Ella Haugo earned the win to improve to 3-0 on the season. Haugo threw 4.2 innings, allowing just two hits and one unearned run while striking out five without issuing a walk. Lauren Cervantes pitched the final 2.1 innings in relief, giving up six hits and five earned runs while helping secure the victory.
The Vikings return to action February 10 at 2:00 p.m. PST when they host Mt. San Antonio.
